Future Graphics Introduces Cost-Saving Seal Insertion System for Remanufacturing HP(R) 2600(TM) Color Cartridges

LOS ANGELES – Future Graphics announces a new Comprehensive System Solutions(TM) (CSS) patent-pending seal insertion system for HP(R) 2600(TM) color cartridges.

Developed in the Future Graphics Research and Development Center, the innovative seal insertion system works without heat and without requiring the removal of the toner adder roll. Instead, the combination of fixture, tools and clamping mechanism properly aligns the new seal for maximum adhesive area coverage. This new system does not cause alterations of critical gaps and tolerances in the cartridge, reducing the potential for leaking/toner dusting.

A part of Future Graphics' Comprehensive Systems Solutions(TM), the seal insertion fixture and tool set (HP2600SEALCSS) greatly simplifies the remanufacturing of the cartridges for this globally placed line of SOHO color printers.

Complete instructions can be seen at Future Graphics' award-winning website, futuregraphicsllc.com.

First to Market Comprehensive System Solution for HP(R) P1005(TM)/P1006(TM), P1505(TM), M1522(TM)

LOS ANGELES, CA – Only five months after the OEM release, Future Graphics is pleased to announce a complete Comprehensive System Solution(TM) (CSS) for the HP(R) P1005(TM)/P1006(TM), P1505(TM) and M1522(TM).

Replacements for the 1012 series, the P1005(TM)/P1006(TM), P1505(TM) and M1522(TM) monochrome desktop printers are the lowest-priced SOHO channel laser printers ever released by HP. At just over 4 cents per page, the OEM consumables represent the highest ever cost-per-page for an HP(R) monochrome printer, which translates as great profit opportunities for remanufacturers.

The Comprehensive System Solution(TM) from Future Graphics includes performance-matched MK Imaging toner and OPC, fully functional chip, wiper blade, recovery blade, doctor blade, lay-in seal and drill-hole fixture.

It was first confirmed at the MK Imaging and Future Graphics Research and Development Centers that the OEM product uses a magnetic polymerized toner that was previously unseen in the market. The solution developed by MK Imaging/Future Graphics is a specially formulated pulverized toner that has been engineered to perform similarly to OEM magnetized chemical toner when used in conjunction with a co-engineered MK Imaging drum. Due to this proprietary process, and efficient toner usage, the solution from FG will not cause waste bin overflow while meeting OEM standards for page yield.

Another critical aspect of CSS is the design and production of affordable and easy-to-use tooling and jigs. The patent-pending drill-hole fixture for the P1005/P1006 and P1505 simplifies the remanufacturing process and reduces damage risk to the auger. There are two separate jig holes to accommodate the differences of the P1005 and P1006 and a fill plug is included with the kit.

"While many may view new technology as a threat, we at Future Graphics LLC view it as an opportunity for the aftermarket," said Luke Goldberg, Senior VP, Future Graphics. "The first months after a printer release, the OEM enjoys a 100% share. This represents a huge opportunity for our customers as opposed to older technology as it becomes commoditized. New technology allows FG and our customers to set themselves apart from lower-cost producers who cannot ― and will not ― invest in the leading-edge technology that is necessary for the long term success of the R and R industry."

All of the supplies and components for remanufacturing the P1005/P1006 and 1505 are in stock and ready to ship.

Ask your Future Graphics LLC sales rep for a complete new product release kit which includes technical specs, OEM benchmark information, and critical component analysis.

Future Graphics Releases Comprehensive Solution for Remanufacturing HP(R)4700/4730/CP4005(TM) Color Cartridges

LOS ANGELES -- Future Graphics is pleased to announce the release of the latest innovation from the Future Graphics Research and Development Center: a complete remanufacturing solution for the HP(R)4700/4730/CP4005(TM) color cartridge. A part of FG’s Comprehensive Systems Solutions(TM), this patent pending fixture and tools set (HP4700SEALCSS) provides a quick, safe and consistent method of drilling and resealing the cartridge every time.

The FG remanufacturing system for HP(R)4700/4730/CP4005(TM) color cartridges works without heat or splitting the cartridge. Future Graphics’ experienced staff engineers highly recommend this method of insertion sealing for high-gram-load color cartridges in order to eliminate leaking issues during transportation. The FG method also helps to maintain critical cartridge gaps and tolerances that can be compromised when splitting cartridges.

The Future Graphics fixture initially works as a drill guide. When used in conjunction with the FG drill hole bit with stop collar, a new fill-hole can be safely and easily made in the cartridge without damaging the interior mechanisms. The combination of fixture and tools then properly aligns a new seal for maximum adhesive area coverage. The safe, easy-to-use process requires little training, saves time, avoids wasted seals, allows reuse of the OEM spindle and provides a high quality seal. Future Graphics toner, chips and compatible components for the remanufacturing process complete the matched system solution.

Complete instructions and a video demonstration of the FG remanufacturing process for the HP(R)4700/4730/CP4005(TM) can be seen online at Future Graphics’ award-winning, free website: http://www.futuregraphicsllc.com. No password or registration is required.

Whether you are doing 300 or 300,000 cartridges a month, Future Graphics is dedicated to providing innovative solutions that increase productivity and profitability for remanufacturing cartridges for the most popular engines on the market today. Patent pending, due diligence assured, the new FG remanufacturing solution for the HP(R)4700/4730/CP4005(TM) color cartridges is another product of Future Graphics’ Comprehensive Systems Solutions(TM).

Future Graphics Demonstrates Comprehensive Systems Solutions(TM) for HP(R) 2600(TM) at Southwestern International Imaging Technology Council Meeting

LOS ANGELES -- Scott Nabers, Senior Technical Support Specialist, Future Graphics, provided a hands-on workshop on remanufacturing the HP(R) 2600(TM) color cartridges at the Int’l ITC Southwest Chapter Meeting, on October 13th in San Antonio.

The HP(R) 2600(TM) color laser printer is a profitable engine to remanufacture, but often presents daunting challenges if a supplier hasn’t committed to extensive research and development. Scott demonstrated the Future Graphics solution, which consists of a matched toner and drum, systems-qualified components and patent-pending fixtures and tools to quickly, safely and reliably remanufacture the HP(R) 2600(TM) color cartridges.

Scott was joined by an audience volunteer who quickly mastered the processes and tools developed in the new FG Research and Development Center. The feedback was extremely favorable, with several remanufacturers remarking that they had seen all of the current solutions on the market, and rated the FG solution the most effective.

“I think these tools benefit any remanufacturer, regardless of size,” said Scott, “They truly make the remanufacturing of this cartridge much more efficient and profitable. The ease of use was demonstrated by the fact that an individual with no prior training was able to remove the drum from the waste hopper on his first try.”

Future Graphics Files Patent Applications for New Remanufacturing Devices

Includes Many Innovative Devices for Today’s Most Profitable Color Cartridges

LOS ANGELES -- Future Graphics is pleased to announce the filings of eleven patent applications for the latest remanufacturing tools, fixtures and processes developed by the 100-plus engineers and technicians in the Future Graphics Research and Development center.

The eleven patent applications include a great variety of innovative solutions for today’s most profitable engines, including a complete system for remanufacturing the HP(R)2600(TM) color cartridges. This industry-leading system consists of a drum-cutting tool (HP2600WHHOLD) and securing fixture, which allow safe and easy removal of the OPC without damaging the waste hopper. There is also a toner hopper drill hole guide and custom hole saw (HP2600THHOLD) that avoids damage to the toner cartridge interior ribs or sweeper blade. This fixture also ensures proper alignment of the doctor blade every time. Used properly, the total system reduces the risk of cartridge damage to zero for increased profitability.

Future Graphics has also filed patents for fixtures and tools to make remanufacturing the HP(R) 4700(TM) family of color cartridges more profitable than ever. This system (HP4700SEALCSS) provides a quick, consistent method of effectively sealing the toner opening port and installing a high quality seal that does not displace toner exit port plugs and includes three separate patents for the components that compose it.

“Patents for the Comprehensive Systems Solutions(TM) developed in our labs are a vital part of ensuring a steady, reliable supply of remanufacturing solutions to our client base,” says Denny Holmes, Engineering Manager, Future Graphics. “Enabling our customers to build their businesses is our goal.”

Other filings include hopper conversion systems that convert low-cost, standard-yield toner cartridges into versatile high-yield cartridges. Simply harvest the OEM empty for the key components – mag roller, doctor blade, etc. – and install them into the FG pre-built, generic toner section complete with seals, a fill hole – no drilling required – and the pre-built waste hopper. The resulting remanufactured cartridge is a single SKU until a new chip is installed designating the cartridge’s final model. Presently, these systems are for converting the HP(R)2400(TM) cartridge into a P3005(TM) cartridge or vice-versa and converting the HP(R)1160(TM) or 1320(TM) cartridge into an HP(R)1160(TM) cartridge.

Other innovative patent filings for color engines include a drum pin removal tool (DRPINTOOL2) for remanufacturing a wide variety of HP(R) toner cartridges, including the HP(R)3000(TM) series and HP(R)4700(TM) family. This is an easy to use device that allows remanufacturers to save time and increase productivity by quickly removing and installing cartridge drum spring pins with consistently correct alignment.

Always at the forefront of research for emerging entry-level players, Future Graphics has developed a drill hole fixture (CLP300FIXCSS) for the Samsung(R) CLP300 (TM). This fixture and custom hole saw provides a time-saving, easy to use system for quick refilling of the toner cartridges without damaging its interior mechanisms.

Additional patent filings include a universal drum rotating tool (UTURNDRUMTOOL) that allows quick, easy, controlled rotation of all HP(R) color drums without touching the drum surface; a toner fusibility and adhesion testing system that allows FG engineers to precisely measure the quality of OEM and aftermarket toners and a Cartridge Pin Replacement for the Xerox(R) Phaser(TM). The custom pin provides an easy to use replacement without a security head for remanufacturing the Xerox(R) Phaser(TM) 4500/5400 (TM) cartridges.

“Our industry relies on the availability of tools and techniques that allow for effective remanufacturing of printer cartridges. In the past, third parties have obtained and asserted patent rights which limit the number of available tools and techniques for remanufacturers. FG doesn’t merely patent our technological advancements to protect our own intellectual property. FG has made it a priority to protect the industry against third parties threatening the availability of tools and processes that are integral to our industry. This will allow FG customers to freely adopt our new and highly effective remanufacturing solutions without being exposed to threats of IP litigation,” says Lionel Brown, Chief Operating Officer, Future Graphics.

Dedicated to the remanufacturing and refilling industry, the Future Graphics’ Intellectual Property legal team, which includes an in-house patent attorney, qualifies its products and solutions by conducting IP due diligence to protect its customers from IP-related liabilities.

“We are in the business of selling products to customers in order to help them remanufacture laser cartridges,” says Fred McIntosh, Senior VP Technology, Future Graphics. “By having Comprehensive Systems Solutions(TM), this enables our customers to be able to produce quality products and provides the expertise they need to further their business.”

Future Graphics Presents at REBRASIL 2007

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL -- Manny Matamoros, Director of International Sales, Future Graphics, and Gerardo Martinez, Project Engineer, Future Graphics, combined forces to deliver a powerful marketing and remanufacturing one-two punch at ReBrasil 2007 from June 20th to June 22nd in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The inaugural expo was organized by the prominent Brazilian distributors and members of ABRECI (Brazilian Remanufacturers Association) in an effort to encourage unity and promote industry awareness of the Brazilian market.

ReBrasil boasted a strong line-up of technical workshops highlighting new technologies, as well as commercial presentations providing global industry insight and its impact on this emerging market. The standing-room-only attendance at each of the sessions was a good indication of their popularity.

On Wednesday, June 20th Mr. Matamoros presented ‘Global Trends and Opportunities,’ outlining the emerging trends across all sales channels, and predicting a positive future for the remanufacturing industry. On Thursday, June 21st, he followed up with ‘Proliferation of Laser MFPs,’ describing the push for these machines to replace some ink jet installations and even to enter the traditionally copier-based enterprise channel.

“The participants of my workshops were very pleased to receive hands-on instructions for all these engines,” said Mr. Martinez. “I think they were even more pleased to witness the wide assortment of cost-effective, user-friendly fixtures and tools that our engineering department designed in-house.”

According to the organizers, the show was judged a success simply by noting the record number of attendees that flooded the show room floor for the duration of the 3-day event.

“The event was outstanding,” said Mr. Matamoros. “I believe that ABRECI did an excellent job of providing the Brazilian market a fine assortment of educational seminars that tapped into many of the technical, commercial, and legal challenges that impact our industry globally. I have been in this industry for over 18 years. I have witnessed the Brazilian market undergo a rapid move from being price-focused and concentrated on moving vast volumes, to a formal, industry-minded market with increasing efforts towards quality, consumer education, and solidifying their market share. We look forward to continuing our support of the Brazilian market, providing as much help as they need going forward in this endeavor.

Future Graphics Announces Winners of FG-sponsored Contest for Free International-ITC Cruise

PRESS RELEASE – April 2007

LOS ANGELES —Future Graphics congratulates Andy Schwark of Ink Cycle and Karl Justice of DI Laser Products for winning the FG-sponsored contest for a free Int’l ITC cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean. FG announced the winners on March 16, 2007, after receiving an enormous amount of entries from customers all over the globe.

Andy Schwark and Karl Justice will each receive a trip for two and will have the opportunity to join in the first ever Int’l ITC annual conference aboard the Royal Caribbean. Taking place from May 3 to May 7 and traveling from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to Cozumel, Mexico, the cruise includes three days of informative panel-style sessions with such topics as succession planning, the changing business models and the fraud and price issues in the China market. In addition, there will be a round table discussion on the challenges facing our industry, which range from technological to legal, and the direction in which we as an industry are heading.

“Future Graphics is once again demonstrating their unwavering support for the industry and its trade association, while simultaneously giving something fun and unique to its customers,” said Tricia Judge, Executive Director, Int’l ITC.

Founded in 2000, the Int’l ITC helps its members meet the challenges of an ever-changing industry that has grown to become a global network of imaging service providers by placing an emphasis on quality of products and excellence in services. In addition to representing their interests in legislative and legal matters that affect the viability of the industry, the I-ITC is committed to advancing product improvement through industry testing standards and educating its members on business and technology.

Future Graphics Presents Positive News for Remanufacturing Industry at ReView 2007

Details Why Laser-basd MFP Proliferation and Non-Traditional OEM Inroads into the Enterprise Channel Spells Great Future for Remanufacturers

SAN ANTONIO, TX —At Recharger Magazine’s Review 2007 Summit in February, in San Antonio, Texas, Future Graphics presented encouraging news for our industry in a seminar focused on the new channels and opportunities that laser-based Multi-Function Printers (MFPs) present.

Speaking to 80 representatives of some our industry’s most notable companies and trade publications, Luke Goldberg, Senior Vice President, Future Graphics, delivered a powerful message about the trend in MFPs and their positive implications for the R & R industry. Entitled “Laser-Based MFP Proliferation: New Channels and Opportunities for the Remanufacturing Industry,” Luke detailed all the key products and their anticipated demand, as well as trends in monochrome and color and the players to watch. Mr. Goldberg also reviewed OEM offerings across the distribution matrix and analyzed the channels of sales and distribution.

“As I stated in my presentation,” said Mr. Goldberg, “one very interesting aspect of the MFP proliferation is that HP is attempting to wrestle market share from Xerox in the Enterprise channel. This allows traditional copier offerings to be replaced by laser-based consumables which would obviously be very positive for our industry.”

“The seminars and presenters at ReView 2007 were nothing short of first rate,” said Phyllis Gurgevich, publisher of Recharger. “From new market opportunities to new technologies, ReView offered a wealth of information that attendees will be able to take back and put into practice.”

Across all channels, MFP growth was significant in 2006. According to Lyra, monochrome MFP shipments were up 8.6% and color MPF shipments were up 38.1%. Since MFPs are laser printerbased, the remanufacturing industry will have an immediate opportunity for sales and service. Consumables consumption will also be higher due to the broad MFP capabilities and increased usage of color.

Remanufacturing Viewpoints Technology and Business Summit, or ‘ReView,’ is sponsored by Recharger Magazine. The two-day intensive conference brings together experts on escalating technology issues and the markets that are impacted. Conference participants learn about business strategies, market statistics and underlying technological advances in the industry that will shape the way business is conducted.

For a complete PowerPoint file of Luke’s presentation, contact your sales rep or the marketing dept at FG.
