LOS ANGELES, CA – Only five months after the OEM release, Future Graphics is pleased to announce a complete Comprehensive System Solution(TM) (CSS) for the HP(R) P1005(TM)/P1006(TM), P1505(TM) and M1522(TM).

Replacements for the 1012 series, the P1005(TM)/P1006(TM), P1505(TM) and M1522(TM) monochrome desktop printers are the lowest-priced SOHO channel laser printers ever released by HP. At just over 4 cents per page, the OEM consumables represent the highest ever cost-per-page for an HP(R) monochrome printer, which translates as great profit opportunities for remanufacturers.

The Comprehensive System Solution(TM) from Future Graphics includes performance-matched MK Imaging toner and OPC, fully functional chip, wiper blade, recovery blade, doctor blade, lay-in seal and drill-hole fixture.

It was first confirmed at the MK Imaging and Future Graphics Research and Development Centers that the OEM product uses a magnetic polymerized toner that was previously unseen in the market. The solution developed by MK Imaging/Future Graphics is a specially formulated pulverized toner that has been engineered to perform similarly to OEM magnetized chemical toner when used in conjunction with a co-engineered MK Imaging drum. Due to this proprietary process, and efficient toner usage, the solution from FG will not cause waste bin overflow while meeting OEM standards for page yield.

Another critical aspect of CSS is the design and production of affordable and easy-to-use tooling and jigs. The patent-pending drill-hole fixture for the P1005/P1006 and P1505 simplifies the remanufacturing process and reduces damage risk to the auger. There are two separate jig holes to accommodate the differences of the P1005 and P1006 and a fill plug is included with the kit.

LOS ANGELES -- Scott Nabers, Senior Technical Support Specialist, Future Graphics, provided a hands-on workshop on remanufacturing the HP(R) 2600(TM) color cartridges at the Int’l ITC Southwest Chapter Meeting, on October 13th in San Antonio.

The HP(R) 2600(TM) color laser printer is a profitable engine to remanufacture, but often presents daunting challenges if a supplier hasn’t committed to extensive research and development. Engineers and technicians from FG provided live, in-depth, practical demonstrations as they revealed the latest Comprehensive Systems Solutions(TM) from the FG Research and Development Center.

The demonstrations included an industry-leading remanufacturing system for HP(R) 2600(TM) color cartridges. This complete, effective solution consists of a drum-cutting tool and securing fixture (HP2600WHHOLD) which allows safe and easy removal of the OPC without damaging the waste hopper.

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL -- Manny Matamoros, Director of International Sales, Future Graphics, and Gerardo Martinez, Project Engineer, Future Graphics, combined forces to deliver a powerful marketing and remanufacturing one-two punch at ReBrasil 2007 from June 20th to June 22nd in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The inaugural expo was organized by the prominent Brazilian distributors and members of ABRECI (Brazilian Remanufacturers Association) in an effort to encourage unity and promote industry awareness of the Brazilian market.

ReBrasil boasted a strong line-up of technical workshops highlighting new technologies, as well as commercial presentations providing global industry insight and its impact on this emerging market. The standing-room-only attendance at each of the sessions was a good indication of their popularity.

On Wednesday, June 20th Mr. Matamoros presented ‘Global Trends and Opportunities,’ outlining the emerging trends across all sales channels, and predicting a positive future for the remanufacturing industry. On Thursday, June 21st, he followed up with ‘Proliferation of Laser MFPs,’ describing the push for these machines to replace some ink jet installations and even to enter the traditionally copier-based enterprise channel.

North American Account Executives Benefit from Hands-on Sessions

LOS ANGELES -- Future Graphics has initiated a program that ensures all North American sales representatives receive hands-on training at the corporate headquarters in Los Angeles, California.

“We are releasing an increasing number of products of varying complexity that require more than just reading an internal release to become knowledgeable about them,” says Bryan Bonacum, VP of Sales, Future Graphics. “We have sales offices all over North America, and it’s important to us that everybody who sells our product has a hands-on experience of using our product, and the only way to ensure that is to provide a real-world environment.”

The training sessions last for 3 days and include time devoted to recently developed tools and fixtures, popular conversion hopper kits, familiarity with lab testing devices and equipment and culminate in the remanufacturing of cartridges for several popular engines.

FG Completes $750,000 Lab Expansion and Equipment Enhancement

LOS ANGELES -- Signaling confidence in a healthy future for the remanufacturing industry, Future Graphics is pleased to announce a $750,000 investment to expand its Development and QA laser labs and incorporate the latest in state-of-the-art equipment in its Los Angeles corporate headquarters.

“We are continuing to make significant investments in our technical infrastructure to ensure that we always have the necessary tools to deliver the highest level of technical support that the industry has ever seen,” says Luke Goldberg, senior VP, Future Graphics. “We are already proud of our industry-leading hands-on experience, including a technical staff with an average of 12 years of remanufacturing experience. Our mission is to couple our real world hands-on knowledge with extensive analytical capabilities that makes us second to none.”

Future Graphics has invested heavily in color testing equipment. One powerful new addition is a 7’x7’ walk-in environmental chamber, which greatly diversifies color testing criteria by reproducing specific atmospheric conditions and extremes that replicate the type of problems seen in the real world, such as wiper blade flipping.

To apply a high level of analytics to the sometimes subjective world of color print quality, FG has installed Image Expert software and equipment. The Image Expert has a 2400 dpi scanner, enabling precise measurement of density, background, and measurement of color values.

For highly accurate fusibility readings in newer, higher-speed machines employing variable melt points and polyester toners, Future Graphics has purchased a Sutherland rub tester. Also installed are a new high-powered microscope with integrated video camera to capture and analyze component details and a new static deionizer to promote resolution of static-related issues. A new durometer measurement gauge critical in testing wiper/doctor blade urethane hardness has also been acquired.

SAN ANTONIO, TX —At Recharger Magazine’s Review 2007 Summit in February, in San Antonio, Texas, Future Graphics presented encouraging news for our industry in a seminar focused on the new channels and opportunities that laser-based Multi-Function Printers (MFPs) present.

Speaking to 80 representatives of some our industry’s most notable companies and trade publications, Luke Goldberg, Senior Vice President, Future Graphics, delivered a powerful message about the trend in MFPs and their positive implications for the R & R industry. Entitled “Laser-Based MFP Proliferation: New Channels and Opportunities for the Remanufacturing Industry,” Luke detailed all the key products and their anticipated demand, as well as trends in monochrome and color and the players to watch. Mr. Goldberg also reviewed OEM offerings across the distribution matrix and analyzed the channels of sales and distribution.

“As I stated in my presentation,” said Mr. Goldberg, “one very interesting aspect of the MFP proliferation is that HP is attempting to wrestle market share from Xerox in the Enterprise channel. This allows traditional copier offerings to be replaced by laser-based consumables which would obviously be very positive for our industry.”

“The seminars and presenters at ReView 2007 were nothing short of first rate,” said Phyllis Gurgevich, publisher of Recharger. “From new market opportunities to new technologies, ReView offered a wealth of information that attendees will be able to take back and put into practice.”

Across all channels, MFP growth was significant in 2006. According to Lyra, monochrome MFP shipments were up 8.6% and color MPF shipments were up 38.1%. Since MFPs are laser printerbased, the remanufacturing industry will have an immediate opportunity for sales and service. Consumables consumption will also be higher due to the broad MFP capabilities and increased usage of color.
